About the project

Letters to Azan is a monograph built from letters, photographs, and fragments—a quiet archive of motherhood, displacement, and love that endures across distance. Shaped by grief, and longing, it’s a deeply personal story of survival and resistance.

More than a book, it’s a space for the complexities of diasporic life and love stretched across distance, borders, and silence—persisting in the smallest, overlooked moments.

Your support will go directly toward the design, production, and shipping of Letters to Azan. Help bring this intimate work to life, making space for stories often left untold and honoring the power of witness and return.

I believe Letters to Azan needs to exist in the world—to amplify unspoken stories of motherhood, migration, and memory.

I’m excited to be creating this work in collaboration with Workshop Arts and the brilliant designer Caleb Cain Marcus. Together, we’re committed to producing a book of the highest quality—one that does justice to the depth and nuance of this story.

If this project resonates with you, I hope you’ll consider contributing or sharing it. Your support helps publish Letters to Azan not just as a printed object, but as a shared space for remembrance, care, and quiet revolution.

Thank you for believing in this project and helping bring it into the world.

With love and gratitude,

Lali Khalid.
